How to Calculate ENEO Electricity Bills in Cameroon

Calculating the rates of electricity bills in Cameroon is one of the most common questions ENEO subscribers always inquire about or want to know. Fixed rates help in these calculations to help consumers come up with the right amount for their bills.

Decision Establishing the Rate of Electricity Bills
The ARSEL decision N ° 0096 / ARSEL / DG / DCEC / SDCT of 28 May 2012 is what fixes the sale prices of all electricity bills or tariffs in Cameroonas. This excludes all electricity taxes applicable to the ENEO Cameroon Company from 2012.

How to Calculate Electricity Bills in Cameroon

The Calculation of electricity bills in Cameroon depends on the category of the ENEO subscriber as follows:
  • Low Voltage Customers
  • Medium Voltage Customers
  • High Voltage Customers
The rates for each category are as follows:


I. Low Voltage Customers

A) Domestic or Residential Uses

Monthly consumption ranges
1. Consumption less than or equal to 110 kWh 50 FCFA / kWh
2. Consumption between 111 kWh and 400 kWh 79 FCFA / kWh
3. Consumption between 401 and 800 kWh 94 FCFA / kWh
4. Consumption between 801 and 2000 kWh 99 FCFA / kWh

B) Other Uses or Non-Residential

Monthly consumption ranges
1. Consumption less than or equal to 110 kWh 84 FCFA / kWh
2. Consumption between 111 kWh and 400 kWh 92 FCFA / kWh
3. Consumption between 401 and 1000 kWh 99 FCFA / kWh

C) Maintenance and Renewal of Meters and Circuit Breakers

The various maintenance and renewal costs for meters and circuit breakers are eliminated.

D) Public Lighting

Tariff 66 FCFA / kWh.

II. Medium Voltage Customers

The tariff is made up of two additional terms:
a fixed monthly premium of 3700FCFA per kW of subscribed power
a proportional tax per kWh consumed, which depends on the number of hours of monthly use of the accepted power and the period of use, per the table;
the various maintenance and renewal costs for meters and circuit breakers are eliminated.

A) General System <1MW

Number of Hours: Between 11 p.m. and 6 p.m and Between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.

B) General System >1MW

C) Free Points Regime

Companies established in Free Zones or admitted to the Industrial Free Franc regime after the signing of this decision are exempt from payment of the consumption advance.

A 10% increase in the proportional tariffs will be received as a guarantee of compliance with the minimum export rate of 80% of the company's production in the Free Zone or in the Industrial Free Point concerned. This deduction will be retroceded at the end of each financial year in the form of having, after justification to ENEO CAMEROON, compliance with the export rate of 80% of production.

III. High Voltage Customers

The tariffs for the sale of High Voltage electricity to new subscribers are fixed within the framework of the contracts concluded between ENEO CAMEROON and said subscribers, after advice from the Electricity Sector Regulatory Agency, according to the provisions of the specifications of the ENEO CAMEROON framework concession and license agreement.

'ENEO CAMEROON. The prices for the sale of high voltage electricity to existing subscribers on the signing of the concession and license contracts of ENEO CAMEROON remain in force. They are revised under the specifications of the framework concession and license contract.

Extra Information From the Decision Fixing the Rate of Electricity Bill Payments in Cameroon



  • ARTICLE 2. The provisions of Law No. 98/009 of 1 July 1998, on the Finance Law relating to the exemption from Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity consumption less than or equal to 110 kWh remain in force.
  • ARTICLE 3 (1). To avoid any delay in reading the indexes at the risk of unduly passing the consumer to a consumption band at the higher cost per Kwh, ENEO CAMEROON is required to strictly comply with the provisions of article 7-2 of the Regulations of the Public Electricity Distribution Service which stipulates that invoices are drawn up monthly, in principle on a fixed date, and distributed by ENEO CAMEROON agents or agents duly mandated by ENEO CAMEROON at various consumption points;
  • (2) If the succession or invoicing takes place beyond 30 days, ENEO CAMEROON must defer the additional consumption in the invoice for the following month;
  • (3) ENEO CAMEROON may have recourse to payment of electricity consumption advances to its customers, provided that the terms of implementation and the related incentives are approved in advance by the Regulator.
  • Article 4. ENEO CAMEROON must, per the provisions of section 76-1 di Regulation of the Public Electricity Distribution Service and within three months of the signing of this decision, and subject to the regime of infractions and sanctions in force, offer the possibility to the user to choose between different types of meters and in particular about migrating to digital meters with prepayment or post-payment, approved in Cameroon.
  • Article 5. Any compensation may only be obtained after the audit of the quantities of energy sold, the quality of service, investment obligations, and control of revenues
